MonaLisa Touch
MonaLisa Touch in Burnaby, British Columbia
As women begin to enter menopause, the collagen and elastin in their vaginal area begins to diminish. Over time, the depletion of the collagen and elastin can cause dryness and other issues in the vaginal area. We treat the signs of vaginal atrophy using a device called MonaLisa Touch. The MonaLisa Touch is a vaginal procedure, approved by Health Canada, for the treatment of atrophic vaginitis and lichen sclerosis.
What is MonaLisa Touch?
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
MonaLisa Touch, also known as MLT, is an innovative laser that uses carbon dioxide to stimulate the vaginal wall and restore elasticity and hydration to the area. By using carbon dioxide, the laser stimulates the vaginal wall with energy. It basically wakes up and activates the cells within the tissue, encouraging them to produce more elastin and collagen.
What are collagen and elastin?
Collagen and elastin are both vital components to keep the human body looking youthful and running smoothly. Elastin tightens the skin and collagen gives skin its hydration. Therefore, when the vaginal area loses its elasticity and hydration, it can cause dryness, discomfort, and other medical issues.
How long does MonaLisa Touch take?
The procedure time fairly quick.* In the beginning, a ring is inserted into the vagina to widen the vaginal canal. From there, the laser device is inserted. Once properly positioned, the treatment begins. Using energy created by the carbon dioxide, the MonaLisa Touch makes tiny punctures into the vaginal wall, stimulating the production of collagen and elastin.
What can I expect during treatment?
*Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
Each patient’s experience is different. However, most patients have reported little to no discomfort.* If anything, patients have reported a slight vibration feeling when the laser is active.

- vaginal itching
- vaginal dryness
- vaginal tearing
- irritation within the vagina
